Agenda

9:00 am Registration: coffee and danish
9:30 am Presentation on Current Information for New York State Laboratories
10:45 am Mr. Link Brown from ENTECH Instruments will presentAdvancements in Air Analysis.” ENTECH will discuss changes to technology that has proven to decrease cost, increase the range and class of compounds recoverable, simplify the sampling and analytical process and create the most defensible data possible. These changes will cut the cost of sampling media by as much as 70% and increase recovery out to C25 compounds. This presentation will serve as an interactive discussion on the following topics:

  • Perform TWA’s for any canister, at any fill rate, at 1/10th the cost
  • Whole air cans prevent water condensation regardless of the humidity
  • Improving recovery by more than 5 times
  • The first truly TO15/TO11A passivated samplers
  • Eliminates potential for corrosion to extend the life of sampling equip.
  • Eliminates sources of error such as cold spots, mass flow controllers, bellows valves, active metal surfaces, variable humidities, rotary valves
  • Dropping %RSDs by a factor of up to 10x while improving QA

Anal. of labile/very reactive compounds, unrecoverable by other techniques

11:30 am Barrett Gaylord from YSI will present “Taking DO Readings in the Field.” This presentation will focus on various DO sensor technologies typically used, including Steady State, Rapid Pulse and Luminescent Optical sensors. Recommended calibration procedures & maintenance will also be covered.
12:15 pm Lunch
1:15 pm Mr. Barrett Gaylord from YSI will present “Taking pH and ORP Readings in the Field.” This presentation will address proper calibration and maintenance of pH and ORP field sensors. We will also cover proper transportation of pH and ORP sensors under field conditions.
2:00 pm Dan Dickinson from NYS ELAP will present recent changes within the NY DOH ELAP Program.
